Singer, songwriter. Born in Salerno, she graduated in foreign languages at Salerno University in 2005. In 2009 she received the Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz at Salerno Conservatory and in 2011 she obtained a Master’s Degree in jazz singing from Avellino Conservatory.
She started her musical career when she was very young earning awards and acknowledgments in singing contests and taking part in many concert series all around Italy both as soloist and chorister . With several bands she opened the concerts of famous Italian artists such as Katia Ricciarelli, Peppe Barra, Peppino Gagliardi, Tiziana Rivale, etc.
In 2001 she was admitted to the University Jazz Big Band that, throughout the course of four years, has taken part in many jazz Festivals and presented the cd
“Next Station” at Umbria jazz Festival 2003.
In 2002 she had started her international tour performing with her quartet at “Rumours”, a fancy music club in Cairo and on the stages of Costa Cruises Ships all around Europe and North Africa.
In 2005 she performed side by side with the blues singer and presenter Rick Hutton at the prestigious Forte Village in Sardinia.
In 2007 she was chosen as vocalist of the “Martucci Jazz Ensemble”, the jazz ensemble of the Salerno Conservatory performing at some festivals including
Villa Celimontana jazz festival 2009, Rome.
In 2009 she moved to Brussels after was granted a scholarship by the Salerno Conservatory to study at the “Lemmensinstituut” – Leuven, Belgium.
In March 2014 Hydra Music Label has released her first album “Fleeting moments” as songwriter. Ten songs written using three languages (included the duet with the great singer Walter Ricci) that well reflect her musical versatility ranging from jazz to latin and pop music.
Since 2014 she’s on tour with the renowned singer-songwriter Nino Buonocore.
In 2017 joined “Jack&Rozz”, the quintet of the brilliant trombonist Alessandro Tedesco and the trumpeter Pino Melfi, that riarranges rock songs in jazz style.
In the last years she has run an intense artistic activity working alongside with numerous renowned musicians as Amit Chatterjee, Fabrizio Bosso, Julian Oliver Mazzariello, Pippo Matino, Jerry Popolo, Giovanni Imparato, Sandro Deidda, Alfonso Deidda, Enzo Zirilli,Vittorio Riva, Alvaro Martinez, Antonio Josè Molina, Antonio de Luise, Aldo Vigorito, Tommaso Scannapieco, Amedeo Ariano, Francesco Nastro, Miguel Martins and many others.
With various setups she took part to many other important festivals, among which Sorrento Jazz Winter; Pomigliano Jazz 2017, 2018 (opening act Baustelle); Teano jazz 2017; Forum universale delle culture 2014 (Napoli); Fiano Music Festival 2017, 2008; Alburni jazz festival 2013, 2004; Alatri jazz Festival 2014; NickLaRocca european Jazz Festival 2005 (Opening act Billy Cobhan); Festival Suoni Mediterranei 2004 -Atri (Te); Ispani Jazz 2004; Baronissi Jazz 2002, 2003,2004, etc
Moreover, Ileana has always lent her voice to the albums of many musicians and composers also for commercials and soundtracks.
In April 2009 she’s releasing her second album “All my tomorrows”, Alfa Music
After a debut one as songwriter highlighting her skills as a composer, the eclectic artist from Salerno definitively approaches Jazz as interpreter and she does it in grand style relying on the imaginative mind and expressive power of four aces: Fabrizio Bosso on trumpet, Julian Oliver Mazzariello on piano, Antonio de Luise on doublebass and Amedeo Ariano on drums.
In spite of her young age, she has many years of singing teaching to her name.
She updated her skills through the constant and passionate study of human voice.
She has attended many master classes in jazz armony, piano, and technical singing, including – to mention just a few – Estill vocal training (Level II), the International Congress “La voce artistica” (Ravenna 2008) and those held by doct. Franco Fussi (with whom collaborated as singer in 2012 and 2013 at two important masterclass “Salerno Arte in voce”), Diane Schuur, Shawnn Monteiro, Joey Blake, Cinzia Spata, Dado Moroni, Kenny Barron, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Jerry Bergonzi.
She’s specializing in “Vocology” at Bologna University and collaborating with a pilates instructor in developing a specific program for singers.
